The hall is wrapped in grasscloth so the eye keeps moving toward the dining room, where a dark crane wallpaper sits above a mint wainscot. Framing the view is the whole point of the layout.
An oval mahogany table and brass chairs hold the centre, with ivory drapery softening the windows and a Greek-key sisal rug underfoot to keep the floor quiet under so much pattern.
A pair of Currier and Ives prints in green and gilt frames finish the wall. Antique prints in a room this saturated give the eye somewhere to rest.
